Playing Around

Last weekend I had a chance to try some off-camera lighting techniques with a model named Stina. She was great to work with, and the choice of clothing gave the session the feel of an old detective movie. All that was missing was the fog machine!

Getting the flash off the camera creates a whole different look than most people are used to seeing for outdoor photography. This is a great lighting style for bridal formals and I can't wait to incorporate it into my next wedding!

Mister!

Three month old Joshua brought Mom in for a 3-month old photo session yesterday. Teri is a professional photographer and has taken lots of pictures of Josh and Daddy since he was born, but didn't have any of her with him. We had a great time and it was a pleasure to finally meet the little man!

First Birthday/Trash the Cake Session

Here's a glimpse into a One Year Birthday session that we did recently. Olivia came prepared with several changes of clothing, which coincidentally went perfectly with the new "blue chair" I acquired. And, since she'd just had her birthday party the day before, she knew exactly what to do with the cake. No prompting necessary. We hope to see her and her older sister and brother again soon!

2nd Birthday for a Princess

This little one's mom warned me that Audrey was one tough customer for photographs! Turns out, with a few bubbles (lots of bubbles) and a beautiful pink tutu, she was MOST cooperative! In fact, her mom now reports that she's become quite a ham in front of the camera. Can't wait to see her and her older sisters soon for a proper family portrait to grace their living room wall!

Meet Benjamin!

I'd like to introduce Benjamin to all of you! He visited the studio to commemorate his one month birthday. His mom is a fellow photographer, so talk about adding extra pressure on top of the usual spit-up/pee/poop vigil! I'm happy to report that he was a perfect gentleman. I hope to show how he grows and changes in the upcoming year. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Education 2010!

I spent the first weekend of March learning from some amazing photographers from around the country! I attended the Professional Photographers of America - RI Association's Annual Convention in Warwick. What's great about this convention is that you can chit chat with these same photographers during lunch and dinner. There are an amazing number of talented photographers in RI and all are happy to share their experience. The camaraderie is wonderful! I also had several prints that earned Awards of Excellence in the print competition. So many of the award winning images were inspiring and I can't wait to compete again next year.
